THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader Palode Ravi may become the Deputy Speaker in the Kerala Assembly as K Muraleedharan MLA has expressed his unwillingness to take up the post.
It was Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala who apprised Muraleedharan of the party’s plan to elevate him as the Deputy Speaker. I Group had also asked for the same.
The latest report is that a consensus was reached within the Congress to make Palode Ravi the Deputy Speaker. He is the Nedumangadu MLA.
The post of Deputy Speaker has been lying vacant ever since N Sakthan became the Speaker after resigning as Deputy Speaker. Though the RSP also had eyed Deputy Speaker’s chair, the Congrees was not ready to give up that post.
