Topper in school athletic meet to get 101 sovereign cup

KOZHIKODE: Topper in the annual Kerala State School Athletic Meet will be presented with 101 sovereign gold cup from this year onwards, State Education Minister P K Abdu Rubb said. Talking at a function to constitute reception committee for the smooth conduct of the 59th Kerala State School Athletic Meet here, he said the decision was taken last year.

Prize money to first, second and third spot winners would also be doubled from this year onwards, he said. As many as 2800 athletes would vie for top honours in 94 items in the meet scheduled to begin at Kozhikode Medical College Synthetic Stadium from December 5 to 8.

Panchayat and Social Justice Minister Dr M K Muneer, Olympian P T Usha, District Panchayat President Babu Parassery, MCH Principal Dr P V Narayanan, among others, attended the meet presided over by Purushan Kadalundi, MLA.
