Man killed in car accident

KANHANGAD: A 72-year-old man was killed and his brother sustained critical injuries when the car they were travelling in hit a tree at Mavungal town near here on Thursday morning. Isaac John, a native of Kottayam and settled down at Kadaba near Karnataka’s Puttur town, was killed on the spot. His brother V John Mathew, 64, has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, the police said. The accident occurred at 5.30 a.m. when the driver of the car tried to save a pedestrian crossing the road. They were returning from Ernakulam after attending a funeral.
