Panayikulam SIMI camp: Sentencing postponed to Nov 30

KOCHI: The quantum of punishment for the first five convict who conducted secret camp at Panayikulam in Aluva camp in the name of banned organisation SIMI will be pronounced on November 30. While the trail on the punishment was going on today, the public prosecutor made a plea for awarding maximum punishment to the convicts.   

The first five convicts are P.A. Shaduly alias Harris from Erattupetta; Abdul Rasik from Erattupetta; Ansar alias Ansar Naduim from Kodungalloor; Nizamudeen alias Nizamon from Alangadu; and Shammi alias Shammer from Erattupetta. 

All the five were convicted under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for hatching conspiracy, convening meetings and giving instructions for anti-national activities. Besides that, Abdul Rasik and Ansar were found guilty of making anti-national speeches. Shaduly, and Abdul Rasik were found culpable for being a member of outlawed organisation.
