THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said at a press conference here on Saturday that the UDF could not achieve the expected win in the 2015 civic polls. The people’s mandate is a warning and we shall go forward correcting our mistakes at the administrative level,” he said.
Expressing his inability to reveal the reason for the election defeat in the public, he said election results would be examined and studied in detail. “The UDF has not disintegrated. Looking into the mathematics of 2005, the UDF has not lost much,” he said.
Taking lightly Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala’s comment that the UDF needs deep treatment for the defeat, he said the party would discuss the issue.
The chief minister said, BJP’s victory was a temporary thing and Congress defeat in Thiruvananthapuram will be examined. “We had not entered into an alliance with BJP at any place and in future also we shall not. It is the Congress which upholds secularism,” Chandy added.
