THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has said film organisations are doing harm to the Malayalam cinema. In the open forum conducted on Tuesday as part of the ongoing International Film Festival here, he said that the organisations don’t allow producers to make low-budget films.
"If a person who passes out of a Film institute after having qualified in Editing reaches the field of film making, he needs to become a member in the organization. For that he also has to pay out Rs One lakh. Otherwise, he will not be allowed to work in the field," he said.
Adoor also asked why the rush of viewers seen in film festivals is not seen in theatres. Many are interested in watching uncensored movies.
He also added that the film festival which brought world cinemas to Kerala also owes the responsibility to take the Malayalam cinema to the world audience.
