Demand for RSP’s return to LDF; Chandrachoodan will continue as secretary

NEW DELHI: At the RSP’s national conference held in New Delhi on Friday, its Kerala unit had to face several criticisms and a resolution was passed against it. The bone of contention was its decision to migrate to the UDF led by the Congress. It was the representatives from West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh who had criticised the Kerala unit of the party.

T J Chandrachoodan was again elected as RSP national secretary. From Kerala, Shibu Baby John found a place in the Central Committee.

The West Bengal, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh units said that the party should stand for the unity of the Left. The demand for returning of the Kerala unit to the LDF fold was made in the resolution passed. The resolution strongly criticised the UDF. It said the Kerala unit deviated from the party stand for the sake of power and authority.

Certain representatives from Kerala also spoke against the State leadership of the party and favoured the resolution. A decision was made to hold a special plenum in Kerala to discuss political issues.

Meanwhile, CPM State Secretary Sitaram Yechury has demanded the return of RSP to the Left.
