Kummanam’s statement part of Hindutva agenda: Pinarai

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has slammed BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan’s statement that temple committees of respective temples can decide on the evacuation of non-Hindu vendors in front of their temples. He said, the statement was part of hard-core Hindutva agenda.

In his Facebook post, Pinarayi said that Kummanam’s statement brought out RSS’ agenda to “convert Kerala into a land of communally tense region”. “The BJP central leadership should clarify whether the new move was the decision taken by RSS chief during the ‘bitak’ in Kannur last month. RSS is now trying to spoil Kerala’s tradition that include people going on Sabarimala pilgrimage also visiting Vavar mosque at Erumeli. Kerala is a place where people from all religions do small business in front of temples to keep the home fires burning. If a communalist, whoever it be, says that people doing business should be prevented based on religion, it can’t be accepted. It is a challenge to man’s fundamental rights,” he said.

In his post, Pinarayi also blames Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for not taking action against alleged communal moves of the Sangh Parivar like the ones mentioned above.
