KOTTAYAM: Noted script writer and director Alleppey Sherif (74) died here Wednesday. He died at a private hospital in the district. Funeral will be held later.
Sherif wrote the screenplay for I V Sasi’s Avalude Ravukal in 1978. He had written the script for I V Sasi’s first film Ulsavam in 1975. He had written the script for 16 of I V Sasi’s films. He had penned the screenplay for almost thirty films including Ezham Kadalinakkare, Oonjal etc. He had directed films like Aarohanam (1980), Asthamikkaatha Pakalukal (1981) and Nazeema (1983).
He first penned the script for A B Raj’s Kalippava in 1972. He had written the dialogues for Vipin Das’ Prathidhwani in 1971. Mohanlal’s Anuragi directed by I V Sasi was his last film he has written the story and dialogues. He last wrote the script for Swantham Malavika.
Sherif was born to Hameed Baba and Rehma Beevi at Alappuzha in 1940. He was married to Naseema and the couple has three children, Sheffeez, Sharaz, and Sherna.
