THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With ‘yatras’ carried out by various political parties, either coming to an end or in the its last leg, speculations are becoming rife over prospective candidates. It is said that besides leaders, the party will also handpick persons who enjoy popularity among the people.
When actors Mukesh and Srinivasan are rumoured to be LDF candidates, Siddique’s name is heard as a Congress loyalist. Names of personalities from other fields like T P Srinivasan are also doing the rounds.
The BJP leaders, who aim at reaping maximum benefits in the election besides opening an account, are having certain big names in their mind. When actor Suresh Gopi’s candidature is seen as a certain thing, the names of former women’s commission chairperson Justice Sreedevi and film director Major Ravi are also being metoned. When Suresh Gopi is supposed to be the candidate from Vattiyoorkavu, the constituencies for Justice Sreedevi and Major Ravi are not yet decided.
However, no BJP leader has given any official confirmation about the candidature of the above persons.
