THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader K Muraleedharan has given a strongly-worded answer to Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan’s statement in the Assembly that he was ashamed to be the Opposition leader in the House where Chandy is the chief minister.
“Opposition leader’s chair is the one in which many great persons have sat. They all have criticised the government; that is their obligation. But have they ever made filthy, bad comments against the government? Even VS spoke about Chandy’s wife. Does this all suit his reputation?” said Muraleedharan during his Thank giving motion to Governor’s address.
When asked about Muraleedharan’s allegation, VS said he had just quoted Saritha’s deposition before the Solar Commission that she had attended the prayer meeting at the chief minister’s house.
Achuthanandan also jocularly called Muraleedharan ‘Kingini kuttan’ (childish person). “That Kingini kuttan, Karunakaran’s son was made to speak against us in order to pre-empt criticisms. For that also, the Speaker sat through…,” V S remarked.
