KOCHI: Kerala High Court judge C T Ravikumar withdrew from the case considered in connection with the bar license, when the verdict was scheduled to be pronounced Tuesday.
The reason cited for the withdrawal was that advocate K Thavamani, who appeared for the bar owners in the high court, tried to influence him. In the judgement, Ravikumar said the advocate came home and tried to discuss matters with him.
Judge Ravikumar informed his decision when the case came up for consideration. It is not right to pronounce the verdict in the case where an attempt was made to influence me, he said. He directed to leave the case to another bench.
The plaintiffs can shift the case to the vacation court if wanted. If a new bench is considering the case then the trial will have to start from the beginning.
