VS seeks govt’s reply on Amicus curiae report

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has said the government and Devaswom minister should give their answer to Amicus curiae’s report on Padmanabha swami temple.

At a press conference here, he said: “When I was the chief minister, I had made public the information that gold from the temple was being smuggled out in bowls filled with porridge (payasam). The Amicus curiae’s report has proved true what I had said two and a half years ago.”

He said the government was responsible for the theft of the temple riches.  The government was subservient to the Royal family. It’s “knees shivered in front of the family” . The donations given by the people were being misused by the royal family on the pretext of religious beliefs.

V S alleged that there was immoral tie-up between the government and Royal family members.

The CPM leader suggested a Guruvayoor model administration for Padmanabha Swamy temple. He further said: “There were attempts to kill a temple staff by throwing acid at him for the reason that he disclosed the bad things happening inside the temple. Even after these incidents, the government was not ready to take action against the Royal family.”
