THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A sub-inspector was suspended for misbehaving towards women and minor girls at Sabarimala during Vishu season. The accused identified as Jahangir, a sub-inspector of Thiruvananthapuram SAP Camp was suspended following a departmental inquiry.
A complaint was lodged after he misbehaved towards them while climbing the holy steps. Not only that he was on duty in the place not assigned by his superior. Even though the issue triggered a controversy in Sabarimala, the officials there shifted him to the camp and tried to secrete the incident.
On investigation, the secret investigating department found the incident to be very serious and submitted a report seeking action. The head of the armed police later issued an order suspending him.
