Sabarinath, accused in Total 4 U fraud case surrenders

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sabarinath, the main accused in the Total 4 U cheating case, who was underground for two years, surrendered before the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial Magistrate Court (II) at 2 pm Monday. He was sent to the sub jail after remanding him till May 5.

He has given a plea requesting to send him to Poojappura Central Jail, as there is a threat to his life. The court will consider his plea on May 5.

Sabarinath said that he surrendered to obtain some peace of mind. He said that he was on a pilgrimage to the Himalayas and had not left the country. The police are trying to trap him in a fake case. He also sought a separate cell in the central jail.

He had gone underground after getting bail on March 18 in 2011. The crime branch issued a look out notice after the police failed in finding him.

Sabarinath had cheated people and amassed an income of Rs 100 crores between  April 2007 and August 2008. He was arrested from Nagercoil in August 2008.
