Maoists threaten home guard in Wayanad

WAYANAD: Maoists barged into a house and threatened the home guard and set ablaze a bike parked there. The Maoists reached the house of Pramod of Mananthavady traffic station at 11 pm last night. Even though top police officials and thunderbolt searched the areas, they could not be traced. Extensive search operations are continuing in Wayanad, Kannur and Kozhikode districts. Following the incident, the home department has sought a report from Wayanad SP.

When the strangers knocked at the door, Pramod and his family did not open it as the presence of Maoists was confirmed. However, when Pramod opened one of the windows, one from the team caught hold of his hand. Pramod identified the person as Rupesh, head of the team. There were also three women in the team.

The team stuck some posters asking Pramod to leave his job and engage in agriculture farming and asked him to stop the hunt of them. A major tragedy was averted after he poured water on the bike.
