THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The customs Monday arrested a native of Tamil Nadu, who tried to smuggle 460 star tortoises through the international airport. Ahamd Haris of Ramanathapuram was taken into custody at 8 am this morning.
The customs examined his bag on suspicion when he was to board the flight to Colombo.
The tortoises were placed in small bags. He refused to divulge more details and said an unknown person handed them over to him.
