Tanker lorry overturns in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: An LPG tanker lorry overturned again in Malappuram. The lorry was travelling from Mangalapuram to Kochi, when it suddenly lost control at Vattappara near Valancheri and overturned to the left.

Since the lorry didn’t catch fire, further tragedy was avoided.  Following the accident, the vehicular traffic came to a halt on Kozhikode-Thrissur route.
   
After the incident local residents within 500 metre radius of the accident spot were evacuated. The electric power supply was disconnected and the people were asked not to use mobile phones.

Indian Oil Corporation officials from Kochi and Chelari have reached the accident location. Fire force units from Thirur, Perinthalmanna, and Malappuram have reached the location and brought the situation under control.

The lorry driver who got injured in the accident has been admitted to a private hospital in Nadakkavu.
