KOCHI: Chief Minister Oomen Chandy has said that the government was ready to forgo the income from the sale of alcohol in the State. But, he added that “there is no point in telling this unless people controlled their addiction to alcohol.”
“The government has been mulling the alcohol ban in phases. It is not practical to implement ban without cutting down on alcohol consumption. New bar licences will be given only to five-star hotels. The government has decided to not give bar licences to three star and four star hotels,” he said.
