A mandate against corruption, communalism: VS

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Calling the LDF’s civic poll victory as a shining gain, Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan said on Saturday that the victory was a strong back lash to UDF’s corrupt governance and BJP’s communal polarisation.

“What the people have accepted is the united fight taken out by the Left against corruption and communalism. The people have also given a befitting reply to SNDP’s move to create communal divide by siding with the BJP,” he said in a statement.
He said the civic polls had proved that only LDF could prevent communalism. “The LDF victory is a slap on the face of the government, neck-deep in corruption and the chief minister who has a soft stand towards communalism.”

“People have identified Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his ministers who are clinging on to power, despite bar bribery mess. The claim that the BJP and SNDP will together do some miracle  in Kollam and Alappuzha has fallen flat. The election result proves that only the LDF can preserve State’s secularism and democracy,” he said.
