Pre-poll violence: CPM, BJP activists hacked

KANNUR: In politically volatile Pariyaram, CPM and BJP activists were attacked with swords on Wednesday. The first person who got hacked was CPM branch committee member P P Rajeevan.

Rajeevan was coming out of the Vayadu Cooperative Bank after work, when a few suspected BJP activists rushed towards him and hacked his head. Rajeev has been admitted to Thalipparambu Co-operative hospital.    

Following this incident, BJP activists and brothers C H Jayaraj, 29, and Swaraj, 21, got hacked. Swaraj has been admitted to Mangalappuram hospital and Jayaraj has been admitted to Thalipparambu private hospital. The BJP has alleged that CPM activists were behind the incident.
