Modi terms state as breeding ground for terror modules

KASARGOD: Kerala, known for its tourism potential world over, has become a breeding ground for terror modules, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said Tuesday.

Addressing an election rally in the northernmost district, he said the state which attracted tourists from all parts of the world had virtually turned out to be hiding ground for terrorists.

In this most literate state crime records against women was on the rise whereas it declined in the BJP ruled states in the country, he claimed.

Referring to the killing of two Indian fishermen by two Italian marines off Kerala coast two years ago, he said people would like to know where they were lodged.

"I wanted to ask a simple question to the Prime Minister Manohan Singh, Defence Minister A K Antony and Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in which jail the Italian marines have been lodged," he said.

Reiterating his charge that Antony took a stand favourable to Pakistan Army while making a statement in Parliament that terrorists in Pak Army uniform had shot dead Indian Army personnel after crossing the border a few months ago.

He said it was contradictory to the official version of the Indian Army, he said.

Pointing out serious lacunae in the armed forces, he said the Army faced shortage of armament and equipments.

The Navy Chief had to quit in the wake of a submarine accident, he said and alleged that the Centre had failed to administer the importance to defence portfolio.

Antony owed an explanation on the happening in the important portfolio administered by him, he said.

Stating that there was a unholy relation between the Congress-led UDF and the CPI (M)-led Opposition LDF in Kerala, he said each front had kept mum on the wrong-doing of the other.
