KANNUR: CPM State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that since it is now known that Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has close links with gold smuggler Fayaz, the minister should step down as home minister.
During a meet the press programme at Kannur Press Club, he demanded that the government give explanation for the association between Congress leaders and Fayaz. KPCC president V M Sudheeran should also clarify his stand on Chennithala-Fayaz friendship.
He said it was evident that Fayaz was the source of funds for the Congress. It should also be probed whether Fayaz connection was used by the party for other ulterior motives.
Pinarayi reiterated his opinion that a disastrous win is awaiting the Congress. “Congress will not get even a single seat in Kerala. The policy of the Congress is to forget people after winning the election. People will give an apt reply for this during the coming election,” he said.
