THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has come down heavily on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for allegedly making tall claims through newspapers that the Centre had given Rs 50,414-crore schemes to the State. He said the chief minister should withdraw the ad which has been befooling the people of Kerala and apologise to them.
He said the achievements mentioned by the CM as his government’s such as - Ezhimala Naval Academy, Thiruvananthapuram Brahmis, Iser, Hanger unit, International airport development, IIST, Kuttanad Package, Sabarimala development , Kollam-Punallur Broad gauge scheme, Vallarpadam Container Terminal, and Kochi Metro - actually belonged to LDF’s tenure.
During the commissioning of Brahmos in November 2012, Defence Minister A K Antony had said that he didn’t have the guts to bring the defence intuitions to Kerala during the UDF government’s tenure. He even congratulated the LDF chief minister and Industries minister then.
“Chandy has now tried to cover up all these facts and make hollow claims. He has failed in pulling off several projects like Rs 1840-crore Kuttanad package and Titanium project. Now, he is keeping mum on Vizhinjam project and the amount spent on controlling price rise,” he added.
