KOLLAM: CPM State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan is one of CPM’s top national leaders. Media should resist from cutting VS down to size.
Addressing a meet the press programme at Kollam Press Club, he said VS’ stands had always helped the strengthening of the party.
Pinarayi said he was still flummoxed over Sudheeran’s statements hailing former Prime Minister Vajpayee. “Vajpayee appeared in BJP for the first time in RSS uniform. He has never criticised RSS policies. During Gujarat riots, the then President K R Narayanan had written to Vajpayee to take some immediate steps to curb the violence, but it all fell on deaf ears. Vajpayee also didn’t come forward to snub Modi in the context of Gujarat riot. Thus, Vajpayee is a leader who implemented the policies of RSS. The Congress may dare to extol Vajpayee, but in that, Sudheeran may be nurturing some other hidden agenda,” Pinarayi explained.
