ALAPPUZHA: The hartal observed by Dheevara sabha on Friday to protest against the allegations against Mata Amrithanandamayi was total. Fishing sector was paralysed. Shops remained shut.
In Kachaeri mukku in Ambalappuza, the strikers tried to shut down the shops which were open, resulting in tension. But the police reached in time to disperse the agitators.
In Thrikkunnuppuzha, the police drove back the strikers using lathis. In the evening, protesters held demonstrators, dharna and meeting.
