KOTTAYAM: The nomination papers of Jose K Mani, the UDF candidate of the Kottayam seat, will be accepted. The decision was taken after the central election commission stated that no mistakes were found. The official announcement will be made by the district collector tomorrow.
The rival parties pointed out that Form A submitted by Jose along with his nomination and signed by K M Mani claiming to be the KC (M) chairman, was not legally valid since according to the election commission’s documents C F Thomas MLA is the chairman of the party. He was chosen party chairman in 2005. In 2008, Thomas was replaced by K M Mani but the election commission did not have the documents of it.
Documents showing the chairmanship of Mani were handed over to the district collector and also the returning officer. Also the documents of the meet convened under the leadership of Mani were also submitted. The problem was solved after producing the accounts of the party’s income and expenses.
State election commissioner Nalini Netto said a decision will be taken by the collector on accepting the nomination papers of Jose K Mani.
