ULLOOR: Two persons in an inebriated condition ran their car into a divider on Thursday and cut a sorry figure in front of the public. The irony was that one among them was Traffic ASI; the other was his friend.
The incident happened on the road between Nalanchira and Mannanthala at around 11 pm. ASI Saranath and his friend Sashidharan, both fully drunk, were going towards Mannanthala in their car. Sashidharan, who was at the wheels, lost his direction and hit the divider. Fortunately, the car got stuck in the divider and came to a halt, avoiding any tragedy.
Though the people reached near the car for helping out the two, both the persons, still inside the car, were not in a condition to talk sensibly. Moreover, the ASI was trying to threaten the people, saying he is an ASI and would show them who he was the next day.
However, the ASI somehow managed to gather his wits and called up the nearby traffic police station for help. When the police jeep came, the people who had gathered there booed him and his friend while they got inside the jeep. Later, the police said a case had been registered against Sashidharan for drunken driving.
