Payment dues: Contractors to abandon construction works
ALAPPUZHA: Government construction works will come to a standstill from April 10 owning to the non-clearance of payment bills. Contractors decided to stop the work after a suggestion was made by Kerala Government Contractors’ Association.
The nine-month’s payment to the tune of Rs 2400 core is due to contractors numbering about 25000. As a result of this, bank accounts of more than 6000 contractors have become dormant. The association members alleged that the government had been helping big contractors and making the life of small contractors miserable.
