NEW DELHI: The draft notification over the highly controversial Kasturirangan report may not come happen during the tenure of current UPA government. The Election Commission has decided not to give permission for issuing the notification as it will amount to breach of model code of conduct, since the election dates are already declared.
After approval, Central Forest and Environment ministry had sent the draft notification to the Election Commission for consideration. But, since Chief Election Commissioner V S Sambath was out of Delhi on tour, the notification was put aside.
Following this, a few officials in the commission met and completed the draft’s primary examination.
However, the notification will have to wait for the final approval till Sambath arrives in Delhi on Monday and get it passed by the full-bench committee.
The Election will consider the all pros and cons of the legality of the draft; it will also case on Green Tribunal. The chance for issuing the draft notification in a few days, but, is a distant possibility.
