Court’s stand making a mockery of democracy, says Minister Balan

KOZHIKODE: Minister A K Balan came down heavily on the court who failed to take action against the advocates who man-handled the journalists on Friday. He said the stand of the court is making a mockery of democracy. The court and the judge should try to control the untoward incidents which happen in the court, he said.

The speaker should take action if anything happens in the assembly. The panchayat president should solve the issue happening in the panchayat office. Like that, if anything happens in the court, the judge should intervene. The judge who refused to act is like mocking democracy. The chief justice, governor and the chief minister intervened on the assault towards the media. Blocking the media again is not right. The chief minister came down heavily on the advocates the other day as their stand was not right, he said.

Balan replied scoffing former chief minister Oommen Chandy on the question in connection with the resignation of Jayarajan. There are only three persons who have not done anything wrong. First one is the foetus, second a corpse and then Oommen Chandy. The previous UDF government was forced to register a case on the statement of the court and had to resign also. This government did not take action on a public interest plea. CPM ministers are very alert while sleeping and waking up, he said.
