Violence in court: Case registered on complaint of women journalists

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vanchiyoor police registered a case against advocates on the complaint of threatening women journalists who came to report court proceedings at the Vanchiyoor court. A case has been recorded against some known advocates on many charges including insult to womanhood.

The police registered a case against ten lawyers on the complaint lodged by Prabhat Nair, reporter of Indian Express. He was injured in the attack. However, the police refused to register a case on the complaint of women reporters and this had caused widespread criticism.

Journalists were attacked on Friday when the plea against former minister E P Jayarajan was considered in connection with the appointment issue. PTI reporter J Ramakrishnan and Prabhat Nair were man-handled.
