Govt has not sought Spl prosecutor’s resignation: CM

Thursday, February 16, 2012: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today opined that the state government had not sought resignation from PA Ahamed, the Special Prosecutor in Palmolein case.
Addressing the presspersons here on Thursday, Chief Minister added that the resignation was not as per the government’s demand. Ahmed was appointed by the previous LDF government, CM added. Special prosecutor had submitted his resignation alleging that a move was on to sabotage the probe into Vigilance case.
The case relates to loss to the tune of Rs 2.32 core allegedly caused to the exchequer by import of palmolein in 1991-1992 when late Congress leader K Karunakaran was the chief minister and PJ Thomas, the Food Secretary and a member of the Board of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation.
