Anitha Prathap to be AAP candidate?

NEW DELHI: Anitha Prathap, a Malayali journalist with nation-wide reputation, may be fielded as the AAP candidate from Ernakulam for the coming Lok Sabha election.

Anitha, who has worked in India and abroad with prominent newspapers, is now an independent journalist and social activist. AAP had already named former IPS office Ajith Joy for Thiruvananthapuram and writer and social activist Sara Joseph for Thrissur.

Fifty five-yr-old Anitha is the daughter of K J Saimon and Nancy from Varappetty in Kottayam district. Anitha started off as a journalist under the guidance of veteran journalist Arun Shourie in the Indian Express, New Delhi.

Later she worked in India Today, Time, and CNN channel (as South Asia Bureau chief). She shot to fame globally for her interview with LTTE chief Prabhakaran from a secret location in war-torn Sri Lanka.

AAP is also considering the names of Kusumam Joseph and Baby Binu along with Anitha for the Ernakulam seat.
