Appointment of relatives: VS seeks exemplary action against guilty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Administration Reforms Commission chairperson V S Achuthanandan came to the fore mounting an offensive against the government over the appointment of ministers’ relatives in public sector organizations. I think an exemplary action should be taken against the guilty, he told reporters here.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala in a letter to the vigilance director had sought to probe the appointment of Sudheer Nambiar, son of P K Sreemathy MP and sister of E P Jayarajan’s wife, as the managing director of KSEI. He demanded to register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The BJP had also sought a probe on it. VS has indirectly favored the opposition’s demand seeking a probe on it.

This controversy is another weapon for the opposition after the self-financing issue.

VS made the statement while returning after attending a programme in Kumarapuram. When asked about the relatives’ appointment, he said that he expects an exemplary action against the guilty after conducting a serious probe. When asked whether the appointment has blemished the image of the government, he said there is no doubt and then moved on to his car.

Meantime, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had yesterday stated in Dubai that a probe would be conducted on all the appointments.
