CM disapproves of banning media at courts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said it is not right to block media persons from reporting court procedures. “There are many things in court procedures that the public should be knowing and it is the job of media men to report that. Due to certain unfortunate incidents, court reporting should not get affected,” he wrote one his Facebook post.

“In the issue that started between media persons and lawyers, mistakes have happened from both sides. They have also been blaming each other. Instead of going for an overkill on the issue, the parties should reach a consensus. All should cooperate to achieve this,” he said.

Quoting the Advocate General, the chief minister says that the HC chief justice clarified the other day that the issue had been solved amicably. AG had held discussions with chief justice, senior advocates and representatives of lawyers’ organisations. The talks should be based on give and take; issues can solved then only. Media owner who had come to meet me were also told about this,” the chief minister said.
