Murder of CPM leader: Case against eight RSS activists

KOOTHUPARAMBU: The Koothuparambu police has registered a case against eight identifiable RSS activists in connection with the murder of Kuzhichal Mohanan, CPM Paduvilayi local committee member. Police also identified the vehicle used by the accused. A search has been intensified to nab the accused. Mohanan, also a branch secretary of the party in Walangichal, was also an employee of a toddy shop. He was hacked to death by a masked gang after entering the shop Monday morning at 10.30 am. Ashokan, who was with Mohanan also sustained injuries. He is undergoing treatment at the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital.

Though the district hartal being observed by the CPM in protest against the murder, has exempted vehicles, the Koothuparambu sector is almost deserted. Only a few private vehicles are seen in the roads.  A large contingent of police has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incidents.

Some attacks broke out in the place last night.
