No load shedding or power cut for next five years, says Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is going through a severe power crisis, said Power Minister Kadakampally Surendran. However, for that reason there will be no load shedding nor power cut for the next five years, he said.

65% of power needed for the state is bought from outside. Hydropower projects acceptable for the environment are needed to face the power crisis. Our aim is to produce 700 megawatt power from solar projects in three years. 400 kv substations and 220 kv substations would be established in five years, he said.
