THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DGP Sunday suspended the Moovattupuzha sub inspector and two civil police officers for assaulting and injuring a youth taken into custody for theft. Moovattupuzha sub inspector A Anoop, senior CPOs Abdul Rasaq and Manoj are suspended subject to investigation.
Pradeesh (36) of Molly Cottage in Attingal was brutally beaten up by the police three days back. Some thefts were reported in places coming under the Moovattupuzha police station limits. Pradeesh took a new rented house on September 22 near a place where the theft was reported. He was brought to Moovattupuzha police station for mistaking him as the thief. He was assaulted while interrogation. He was released after his wife reached the police station and threatened to commit suicide if her husband is not released. He later took treatment in a hospital.
