E P Jayarajan resigns as minister, confesses his mistakes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following days of heated debates and speculations over Minister Jayarajan’s resignation, EP Jayarajan today quit the minister’s post. Informing this, CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that Jayarajan had resigned to uphold the image of the party. He said Jayarajan had also confessed his mistakes in the party Secretariat meeting held today morning.

His resignation has come just 142 days after he was sworn in as the minister. The chief minister will take over Jayarajan’s portfolios, for now.

In today’s party meeting, several actions including changing the portfolios of Jayarajan were considered. But, the majority in the meeting was for his resignation.     

The chief minister himself and even the Centre is reported to have recommended Jayarajan’s resignation.
