KOCHI: The railways have granted an additional coach for the Kerala Team to attend the National School Meet in Ranchi. The additional coach was fixed to the Dhanbad Express when it reached Shornur.
The 72 seated sitting coach was fixed to the train which left Kochi at 7.30 am. The athletes from Kerala travelled in the general compartment till Shornur. The new coach was granted following the intervention of Palakkad MP M B Rajesh.
A team of 142 persons including 117 athletes and 25 officials left for Ranchi Sunday morning. Out of the 142, only 22 persons obtained berths. Officials are to be blamed for the inconvenience as the tickets were booked 50 days before and the concerned were informed about the travel.
