THRIUVANANTHAPURAM: Yuva Morcha activists, on Saturday, staged a protest demonstration against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is now on a three-day visit to Kerala.
At Chakka , the activist protested 50 km away from the road where the prime minister’s cavalcade was passing through. Their protest was against the LPG cylinder price rise. They shouted slogans, demanding a roll-back in the price.
The Prime minister was returning after taking part in a programme in Technopark in the morning. It was then that about ten morcha activists, waving flags, tried to approach the prime minister’ convoy. The police rushed to the spot and arrested the protesters.
Meanwhile, the issue has given room for a new controversy as a tight security had been in place, in the wake of the prime minister’s visit. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala is expected to ask for explanation from the police in this regard.
