Fake IPS man arrested for cheating people of money

PERUMBAVOOR: Perumbavoor Police on Monday arrested Paul, 50, from Nedumbassery Palatty house for impersonating as an IPS officer and cheating people of money.

According to the police, Paul swindled Rs 58 lakh from one Joseph from Perumbavoor after offering him an admission to MD course in Tamil Nadu, using his influence. Police registered a case after a complaint was registered by Joseph.

The accused had been travelling in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka after his anticipatory bail was rejected by the high court.

Based on the secret information received by Perumbavoor Deputy Police Superintend K Harikrishnan, a team led by Perumbavoor police inspector Muhammed Riyaz, SI C K Ravi, ASI Sarendran, and SCPO Anil Kumar carried out the arrest.
