Satnam Singh’s death: High court stays trial

KOCHI: Kerala High court has stayed Thiruvananthapuram Sessions court’s proceedings in the case related to the mysterious death of Satnam Singh at Peroorkkada Mental hospital for three months.

The trial was being carried out against six persons based on a crime branch report. The court’s order came after Satnam’s father approached the court seeking a CBI inquiry into the death of his son.

The high court had ordered an independent, transparent and unbiased probe into the case on April 3.

Satnam, a native of Bihar, was arrested from Mata Amritananda Mayi’s Vallikkavu mutt in August 2012. He was later shifted to Peroorkkada mental hospital from the police station.
