RSS-BJP activists attack Kottarakkara police station

KOTTARAKKARA: Police officials including a circle inspector were injured in an attack by RSS-BJP activists towards the Kottarakkara police station. Police vehicles and window panes of the station were damaged in the attack. The incident happened early Tuesday morning at 12.30 am.

Kottarakkara circle inspector Sajimon, Puthur sub inspector V P Sudheesh, battalion cops Shefiq, Dinesh and home guard Vijayan were injured in the attack. All except the circle inspector has been admitted at the Kottarakkara taluk hospital.

The issue started last night at Avanoor on the Kottarakkara-Puthur Road when sub inspector Sivaprakash stopped a bike during vehicle inspection. Binish (23), a RSS activist and two others were in the bike. Binish raised his voice when the inspector questioned the three for travelling in a bike. The police took him into custody and he immediately informed the message that he was assaulted on the way.

RSS and BJP activists thronged the police station and had a verbal dispute with the sub inspector. The circle inspector and more police force reached the station hearing the news. The activists were forcefully pushed outside and this led to a scuffle. Some activists hurled stones from outside. When more force from other stations reached, the activists fled the place. The police have taken into custody their vehicles and a case has also been registered. As a tense situation is prevailing, a large contingent of police have been deployed in the area.
