Uproar in assembly, oppn walks out over price rise

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition LDF staged a walk out after an uproar over price rise in the assembly. The opposition members sought discussion on the adjournment motion on price rise after the end of the question hour. CPI leader C Divakaran sought permission for the motion.

Divakaran said the price of essential items have gone up following the increase in price of cooking gas. The government’s intervention in the market is not effective and blamed the consumer fed for its nonintervention.  The horticorp has stopped functioning without the permission of the government and after that the price of vegetables and bananas have shot up in the market.

Minister Anoop Jacob said the price of rice has not increased after August. The opposition started uproar when Minister K P Mohanan told the assembly that the price of vegetables has not increased. The opposition staged a sit-in in protest against the minister’s and walked out of the assembly.
