KASARGOD: Veteran singer K J Yesudas will turn 74 on Friday. As usual, he will spend his birthday at Kollur Mookambika temple, making musical offering to the temple deity.
Hundreds of musicians will take part in musical concerts that will begin from 5am on the day at a specially arranged dais near the Saraswathy mantapam. The rendering of kirtanas will continue till 4 in the evening. Yesudas and son Vijay Yesudas will perform concerts on the occasion.
This special musical tribute first started when Yesudas was celebrating his 60th birthday. Singer Kanjangadu Ramachandran said next year an award ‘Gandharvamritham’ will be instituted to honour Yesudas.
