NEW DELHI: The State government has submitted before the Supreme Court that it is the responsibility of the temple administration to protect the temple pond of Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple. It is not practical to bring water from Killiyar and clean the pond; the river is polluted as well.
Supreme court-appointed amicus curie Gopal Subramanyam had told the court that both government and the temple authorities had failed to protect the temple pond. A detailed report on this will be submitted on Saturday.
The amicus curie had also alleged that the government had torpedoed Rs 27-lakh tender for cleaning the pond.
