Body of youth killed in Ivory Coast to reach hometown on Monday

KOLLAM: The body of Rahul (28), who was reportedly shot dead by burglars in Ivory Coast recently, will be flown to home town on Monday. He was a resident of Kollam Kureeppuzha Mathetara Nagar Puthanpurayil.

His relatives with the help of the embassies concerned are making all arrangements to bring his body back home. Rahul, who was an employee of a cashew nut factory, was killed near his residence in Ivory Coast.

On Wednesday, he was returning to his house after withdrawing money from the bank. Near his house, burglars waylaid him and demanded money. As he didn’t budge, they shot him dead and made away with his money, wedding ring and chain.

The police said he was attacked by a four-member gang. Police had first informed his relatives in Ivory Coast about the incident.
His marriage was in August last. He is survived by wife Veena, father Rajeev (a staff of SN Trust office), mother Sujatha and Reniraj (brother).
