Two killed in bus-lorry collision

MANCHERI: Two persons were killed and 15 injured after a KSRTC deluxe bus and a lorry collided at Pandikat in Malappuram early Wednesday morning. The two dead has been identified as Rameez and Ilyas, natives of Kannur. The condition of two of the injured is stated to be serious. Bus drivers P K Anil Kumar (56), Manoj T Mathew (45) and conductor Sumesh (30), natives of Pala, sustained injuries.

The Mysore-Bangalore deluxe bus which left Pala at 9 pm last night collided with the lorry laden with chicken coming from the opposite side. The bus was full of passengers and they were all asleep at the time of the incident. The injured has been admitted to nearby hospitals. The front portions of the bus and the lorry were completely damaged in the impact.

Bus driver Anil sustained serious head injuries and Manoj and Sumesh have fractured their legs.
